A New Home Among Friends
PROOF is excited to announce a big change for our organization- a move to the Center for Social Innovation in Chelsea’s historic Starrett-Lehigh building.
The Center for Social Innovation is more than just four walls and a roof. For one thing, it’s literally bigger- it is a patchwork of broad workspaces, meeting rooms, lounge areas, with comfortable and handy spaces to work, speak, and rest. Crucially, however, the center is also more than a horde of desks.
The Center’s great advantage is the diversity of its members, which are united by a common sense of purpose. The Center brings together a smorgasbord of innovators encompassing a variety of sectors, including non-profits, entrepreneurs, artists and activists, all dedicated to having a positive impact on society.
By filling a comfortable coworking space with a range of bright and creative organizations, and the individuals who support them, the Center for Social Innovation aims to foster a community that will find creative solutions to the challenges of the modern world.
The Center for Social Innovation, like many of the organizations it brings together, is the realization of a creative solution to a problem. The first Center was founded in 2003 by a group of social entrepreneurs in Toronto, who sought to address the poor quality and isolation of the facilities many organizations were using as workspace. Today, there are 4 locations in the US in Canada, which cover 100,000 square feet, and are home to 180 social mission groups.
A place at the Center for Social Innovation is aligned with PROOF’s commitment to promoting justice through education. As a member of this new community, PROOF will exchange ideas with other groups, which are similarly dedicated to building social change. The Center for Social Innovation offers PROOF fertile soil for growing in its mission.
